Shine On

A friend sent me this quote not too long ago, and it just spoke so eloquently of who we are. It is so valid and so encouraging, I couldn't help but share it with you.

Shine on, friend. You have so much to offer the world.
Have a wonderful day!

I hope you all had a most delightful Thanksgiving (if you live in the US)! Instead of braving the masses to shop on Black Friday, I actually found myself working..serving those who were out and about that day! It wasn't as crazy as I thought it would be, and somehow found it to be enjoyable.

This weekend was crazy busy with styling clients, work, speaking engagements and a concert to attend. Oh the joys of the season..I do love going from one fun thing to the next! The holiday season is in full swing now, and I'm looking forward to some exciting events, the decorations and the excitement of the season that seems to be in the air. I just love this time of the year.

We are all so blessed..family, friends, and a life to live! Take a moment and think of some of the things you're grateful for!

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

 (I'm thankful for you!)

The Favorite

Today I thought it would be fun to look back a little, and share some of my most popular posts. These are ones that have been enjoyed most frequently..from inspiration to fashion, there's a little bit of everything in there. Enjoy!

This outfit from Weekend Wanderings went all over Pinterest & Tumblr. Who knew everyone else loved mint pants & stripes too? :)

Sunsets & Sequins.. still one of my favorite combinations, and it's perfect for the holidays coming up! The mix of textures and color is fun and pretty!

Wordless Wednesdays were actually started because I had writer's block and couldn't think of what to say..sometimes pictures are worth a thousand words :)

A Girl's Guide To Simple Entertaining
I really love to plan and host parties..yay for celebration! Here I shared some some tips so you can throw a beautiful event with ease! I couldn't have been more thrilled when Lucky Magazine picked this one up..how exciting!! :)

What fun is fashion if not for Glitter (Miu Miu inspired!) and a little Break The Rules (do you dare?) :)

We've chatted with rising stars over cappuccinos Coffee Talk: Shelby and got an inside look at the life of a professional ballerina.

And last but not least, we've talked about how to manage busy schedules and Big Rocks and what to do when things don't go your way, Oh Joy!

Weekend Wanderings

Hi Everyone!
Happy weekend! Hope this week was full of fun and productivity for you. I'm happy to see the weekend arrive, although it's somewhat of a busy one! With the holidays beginning next week there's lots of preparations here, and it can get slightly hectic, but luckily there's a little bit of time in this weekend to relax, enjoy and breathe a bit. Plans to do some baking, writing and goal setting for the upcoming holiday season are all on the schedule for the next few days. Take a bit of time this weekend to enjoy the present moment, something that I can often forget to do when things begin to get busy. Something about just being fully in the moment, mentally and physically seems to do wonders for de-stressing the mind.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Big Rocks

We all have 1,440 minutes in each day--time to use or waste. Sometimes it feels like time drags on forever, and other times it seems to fly by..(ahem, this year, for instance) What is it that you're doing with your time? Are you making progress? Do you schedule your life according to your priorities, or does your schedule dictate your priorities? How are you using your time?
As the holiday season is just around the corner, and my calendar is beginning to fill up with events and appointments, it's easy to get stressed. To avoid that, I've been thinking about wisely using my time...and I'll admit that I've wasted more minutes than I should doing things that don't benefit anything (Facebook, anyone?) but today is a new day..another 1,440 minutes that I can choose to invest to better my life and the ones of those around me. Let's make that decision and wisely schedule our time!
Here's a little story that I came across and found interesting.

"A teacher once brought a one-gallon can into his classroom and set it before his students. He placed 5 large rocks in the can, filling it to the brim. Showing the can to his students, he asked, "Is this can full?" They all nodded yes.
"No it's not," the teacher said, "the can is barely half-filled." Then he took out a bag of gravel and poured it into the space around the rocks. Next he produced a bag of sand and poured it into the nooks and crannies around the gravel. Finally, he pulled out a bottle of water and slowly poured it in the can until it reached the top.
"Now the can is full," the teacher said. "But here's the real question: What does this teach you about your busy schedule?"
The students thought for a moment. Then one girl said, "It shows you that no matter how full your schedule, there's always room for more."
"That's not quite it," the teacher responded. "It should teach you that unless you put in the big rocks first, they'll never fit." "

Most of us have a lot to do, people to meet, and places to see, but ask God today to give you the wisdom to use your time wisely. Make sure those "big rocks" or priorities get into your schedule first, otherwise "they'll never fit".

Have a wonderful (and productive) day!

Oh Joy!

Lately I've been reading in 1 Thessalonians, and Paul talks about the way in which we should conduct ourselves, and as he ends his letter, he says this: "Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." --1 Thess 5:16-18

I got to thinking...that when bad things happen, my first reaction is not to be joyful. I don't often feel like giving thanks when things don't go the way I wanted or a problem comes or I'm having a bad day. To be honest, I feel like saying "God?! Where are you? Why is this happening to me? This isn't fair..!!"

But then I think about all of the areas in my life where God has blessed me, the times he's given me strength when it felt as though I had none left, blessing after blessing he's poured into my life. God gives me so much everyday..and I realize I hardly remember to stop and say 'Thank you' sometimes.

When things don't go our way or we face tough times, disappointments and problems, take a moment to say "thank you. thank you for blessing me as you do..and even though things are hard, I'm going to be thankful in all circumstances and know that you are God. You're in control, you love me, and you have my best interest at heart." I think by paying more attention to thanking and praising God, and less of a focus on our problems we can become 'joyful always'.

Can we choose to be joyful today? Regardless of our circumstances..this is God's will for our lives. You are blessed, friend!

Have a wonderful, joy-filled day!
