Daydreams

I love photos that tell a story or make you dream a little. Wandering past the soft pastels of the stained glass windows, and running my hand along the cool marble of carved chairs and statues lining the Gatsby-like, grand back patio evokes daydreams of sparkling soirees, regal guests and people dancing until the stars come out to play among the night sky. There's something so lovely about the delicate details found in flowers just beginning to bloom in the gardens, the gorgeous curvature of the winding staircases, and intricate architecture of decades past. It almost makes me wish I could step back in time for an hour or so to experience these daydreams as moments that actually happened some years ago... but for now I'll just continue to love the whimsy found in these pretty details. Do you ever find yourself daydreaming also?

Ocean Blues

(Dress: Lilly Pulitzer, Bangles: Bourbon & Boweties, Earrings: Anna & Ava)

A little while ago, I got to spend the most lovely of afternoons with a dear friend of mine! Jennifer Blair is truly a delight, both inside and out, and her photography is absolutely beautiful! Her ability to capture and create such ethereal and magical images is so inspiring. We decided to explore the grounds of a former winter home belonging to a wealthy couple from the 1920's, and although the clouds may have been out that day, it was nonetheless lovely! I could imagine what elaborate events they must have hosted upon the patio, to the backdrop of the sea kissing the shoreline. We played with the concept of sea-colored hues, inspired by the thought of ocean maidens and sparkling waves. This dress was just the right combination of color and movement..perfect for a sea soiree!

Quiet

(photo by my sweet friend & mega-talented photographer Jennifer Blair)

I know things have been a little quiet around here lately...sorry for that! I'm currently working on a few exciting projects, and it's occupying a lot of my free time (not that there's much of that to begin with). Rest assured, there's good things coming very soon!

Speaking of quiet, recently I've discovered the beauty that is found in quiet moments. Instead of immediately flipping on the radio during my way to work, I've been opening the sunroof and letting the sunshine and sounds of birds fill my commute. Sometimes it's good to unplug from the constant barrage of noises. From early morning workout playlists to evening inspiration mixes, it got to the point where I felt like it was just cluttering my mind, and a change was needed. There's solace and beauty in silence..the absence of noise can often feel soothing, especially if there's a lot on your mind. Have you ever felt like that? Just needed a calm quiet? It's refreshing in the best way possible. I've enjoyed it so much that I just might begin to do this on a regular basis.

Beyond the silence of radio sounds, a few minutes walk outside is also a welcome diversion from the busy routine of life. Sometimes it's easy to get wrapped up in what needs to be done, and the list of "to-do's" gets longer and longer, but when you allow yourself a moment to breathe, relax and enjoy nature's beauty, it's always amazing to see how much it can refresh and re-inspire your work! I encourage you to find that minute or so to get a deep breath of fresh air and maybe a moment of silence this week. It will benefit you & your mind so much!

Look Within

Just a thought for the week.. What kind of a life are you living?
In all that you do, are your actions just, kind, and honorable? Do you give grace and mercy
to others? When success comes your way, are you swift to take all the glory and credit, or do you walk in humility? It is wise to examine our lives and ask ourselves, "What kind of a life are you living?"
