Happy Birthday to the best sister in the world!
She's so pretty, talented and mega creative..like Martha Stewart creative.
Yeah, I'm pretty jealous of her crafting skills.

 Happy Birthday dear!
Love you!

For the Love of Friday

This is quite possibly the cutest thing I've seen..it's the new Rue campaign for Kate Spade.
I'm sure you'll just love it! Have a wonderful Friday, friends!

The Student

Sometimes the weather is really nice and cooperates with my plans for outdoor study so, I usually can spend a good amount of time enjoying the sunshine as well as getting my work done.

Today was my second of four, French cooking classes that I'm taking, so after coming back from lunch, (which was so delish!) I worked outside. It also turned into an outfit post. Double duty, zing! I'm kind of a novice on this whole fashion blog thing; please excuse the slight awkwardness...props to the dedicated fashion bloggers who do this all the time..whoa.
there were ants on the ground; laying here could have been problematic.

(Shirt: Burberry, Belt: Gianni Bini, Shorts: Z Co. Shoes: H&M, Glasses: F21, Necklace: gift, Earrings: thrifted, Coral ring: F21, Silver ring: Mountain Gift& Books)

Well I was working...and then I found the latest edition of InStyle among my books
 (how did that get there?)

On another note, I've been doing a lot of baking lately; my sister and I attempted french macarons one evening..oh boy. I'll save that story for later...those things have a mind of their own.
Happy Thursday!

xoxo,

Candice

behind the blog: MJ from Honeypie Archives

I'm so excited to have MJ from the Honeypie Archives here today at Teatime Thoughts! If you're not following her adorable blog, you need to do that immediately. She's a lovely person inside and out, and has the greatest fashion sense. Seriously, the girl can rock the cutest vintage pieces ever! (so jealous!)

We definitely hit it off from the moment we found the other's blog, and I'm lucky to call her a friend of mine. She's getting married in May, and has the cutest engagement photos ever! Alright, enough of my talking..take it away MJ! :)
1. What inspired you to blog?
Back when I was a graphic design major I took a photography class that required me to shoot at least once a week out of class time and document it with a blog.  My teacher felt the blog would push us to be better because we would have our classmates' blogs to compare with.  After the semester was over I left my blog alone for a couple months.  I slowly came back, and the rest is history.  Now I love blogging and wish I had more time to do it.  It's such a great way to document my life, hobbies, and memories.  It's also a great way to keep up with friends.

2. What have you learned from blogging, and do you have any tips you'd like to share?
I have learned so much from blogging.  Apart from learning HTML and all that techy nerdy stuff like that, the blog has pushed me to take more, and better photographs.  It's pushed me to use and fall in love with PhotoShop.  (I guess my photographer professor got the result he hoped for)  I love blogs with lots of pictures, and I think everyone thinks a post is more interesting if it includes pictures.  It spices up a blog!

3. Name 3 places you'd like to visit
Oh so many places, but right now someplace warm sounds the most enticing.  I am really anxious for warm, bare leg weather!  So Hawaii would be cool because I have never been!  The other two places are places I have been before, but loved.  I had the opportunity to go to DC this past summer, with my family.  My fiance and I are planning on visiting DC as soon as possible.  He is a political science major and history guru, so he would love DC.  Korea would be a dream, I have only been back once since coming here when I was a baby.  My fiance served a mission for our church there and  so he speaks Korean fluently.  He would be very useful to take to Korea, because the shopping can be dirt cheap if you have someone to haggle the price with the market shop owners for you.

4. Got any beauty secrets? Let's hear em!
This is a bit silly actually and probably sounds very odd, but for untamed eyebrows, spray a little hairspray on your finger and apply to your eyebrow.  It works wonders!

5. Who has been a role model to you and why?
This will probably sound super lame, but Hilary Duff.  I'm not even a huge fan of hers, but I've always admired her since the Lizzie McGuire days.  She's confident, fashionable, beautiful, and seems to be down to earth.  She never went through a crazy stage in life, and you can tell she is close to her family.

6. What's your favorite quote?
"Experience life; Agonize, scream, cry.  And then let it go." -Leo Buscaglia

A Real Cinderella Story

"A pair of shoes can change your life...just ask Cinderella"

I was able to help out with the coolest event ever, The Cinderella Project, which provides prom dresses, evening shoes, jewelry and handbags to girls who are unable to afford them. The girls are chosen from surrounding schools in the county, and get to come in to choose a beautiful gown and accessories to take to their prom for free. The event was held at Saks Fith Avenue for two days, and was a complete blast!

I cannot tell you how much fun it was to help the girls find the perfect dress, and see their faces when they came out to stand for a photo with the whole look. Smiles, laughter, happy squeals and sequins filled my day from 8:30 till 3. I even donated a few of my old gowns that had been sitting pretty in my closet, and was thrilled to see them swirling off in a cloud of chiffon and glitter to new homes!
Like my fairy godmother crown?

All of us volunteers got to be "fairy godmothers" for the day, complete with wands and crowns; it was truly a treat. Here's a few photos from the event and also the behind the scenes organizing, steaming, sizing, bagging and everything else that went into getting these gowns ready for their Cinderellas. The amazing, talented and hard-working woman behind all of this fun, Judy, is a good friend of my grandmother, and is now a great friend of mine! It was such fun being able to help alongside her.

These were a few of the Cinderellas.
Getting all of the dresses organized and ready to go to Saks!

What a wonderful and fun-filled day it was. It's always a joy to help someone else, especially when you see a smile on their face because they feel good about themselves. At the end of the day, I was tired, but in the best way possible; I'll not forget the smiles of these beautiful girls in their gowns, ready for the ball.

"A dream is a wish your heart makes when you’re fast asleep. In dreams you will lose your heartaches. Whatever you wish for, you keep. Have faith in your dreams, and someday, your rainbow will come smiling through. No matter how your heart is grieving, if you keep on believing, the dreams that you wish will come true."
-Cinderella

Blessings, Sequins and Smiles,

What Would We Do Without Them?

5 Tips for Strong Friendships:

1. Make yourself available.
Be there when someone needs to talk, celebrate or lend a helping hand.

2. Encourage one another.
"Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing"
1 Thessalonians 5:11

3. Listen.
"When people talk, listen completely. Most people never listen"
Ernest Hemingway

4. Don't take life too seriously.
"A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit."
Proverbs 15:13

5. Communication
Let your friends know you're thinking of them!
Whether it's a quick text, phone call, letters/email or a small gift in the mail, my friends like to know that they're on my mind :)
(and who doesn't like getting things in the mail??)

Friends are a wonderful gift; enjoy them!
They say that friends are family we choose for ourselves.

Blessings and Friendship,

Candice

P.S.
I'm happy to have your friendship!
