Starry Eyed Celebration

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love the stars and enjoy learning about the heavens. There's such a dreamlike quality about the way in which they illuminate the night, twinkling in shifting colors or shooting across the inky black sky. Stars are like the celebratory finale to the day, a dash of whimsy and ethereal beauty for those who choose to look up and take it all in. Speaking of celebration, what better print to ring in the new year than with a bit of celestial-inspired chiffon? This fun piece is a custom design I created with the Eshakti team as a part of their new Custom Fabric Design program. I love the elegant halter neckline that ties playfully in a bow on the side and the midi length is perfect for dancing til dawn. A simple gold clutch and sparkling starburst earrings effortlessly complete the look. Stars have been having a sartorial moment lately...would you wear this playful trend?

Merriest Wishes

Wishing you and yours the most wonderful Christmas celebration! Whether you're gathered with family or find yourself far away this year, I hope that you feel the joy and love that comes from this beautiful celebration of Christ's birth. Merry Christmas!

Luke 2
In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2 (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 And everyone went to their own town to register.

4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.

8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

December Inspiration

It's officially one week until Christmas and all the presents are being wrapped, cookies are being baked, the tree is laden with beautiful ornaments sparkling among rows of twinkling lights and we dash with gift in hand to the next soiree. It's the most fun and festive time of the year, and I hope you are taking a moment to enjoy the beauty of this season amid the hustle and bustle. I took a bit of time this last weekend to do some reflecting on some goals for the month, a little future planning for the new year and simply savored the happiness of the holiday season. While all may seem rushed and busy around us, it is so important to not let this wonderful time slip by without really enjoying it all or acknowledging the beautiful story behind our celebration. Regardless of the busyness of your calendar this week, I encourage you to take some time to reflect and relish in the wonder that is Christmas.

As our wise friend the Grinch once said, "Maybe Christmas, he thought, doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more!"

Sunset Serenade

There's something so magical about the colors of sunset. I love the soft blush and lilac hues that melt into the horizon and create a rosy glow upon the water. If there's something that always makes me feel at home, no matter where I am in the world, it's watching the sunset at the end of the day. In a way, the colors seem to create a symphony with each color blending together to serenade the light's last lovely moments of the day as it transitions into darkness.

Amid the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, it just felt right to escape for a little while to the islands and to soak up the sun, take in the sunset, and make time for some rest. There's such value in taking time to breathe and to enjoy the simple things. While traveling to a new place can make this easier, it is a practice that we should add to our daily routine. Whether it's a sunset, a good book, or time invested with family and friends, make some time this week to take a moment to breathe, relax and enjoy the moment.

5 Ways to Show Gratitude This Week

Happy Thanksgiving week! What I enjoy most about this holiday, aside from good food and investing time with friends and family, is that it causes us to pause for a moment and think about the value of gratitude. It's easy to rush along with business as usual, keeping our schedules packed with things to do and places to go, but I encourage you to take some time this week to incorporate the simple practice of gratitude into your life. See what happens when we place a little more focus on being thankful, enjoying our many blessings, and simply acknowledging the beauty in living. Where to begin? Here's a few ideas to get you started...

1. Send a card or handwritten to someone to let them know you're thinking of/appreciate them.

2. Do a random act of kindness for someone each day leading up to Thanksgiving!

3. At the end of the day, instead of scrolling on social media, make a list of a few things you're grateful for.

4. Donate some food to your local food pantry to help someone in need.

5. Give someone a (sincere) compliment.

Holiday Classic with JORD

Shop My Look: | women's wooden watch

It's time for the holiday season once again, and that means all kind of fun things like entertaining, gift guides, decor, and festive fashion! I decided to kick things off a little early this year with a fun collaboration with JORD Watches. To be honest, I wasn't a consistent watch wearer for quite some time; however, I've been trying to cultivate that habit once again, so I've been looking for a piece that would be unique, versatile, and most of all comfortable. When JORD asked to collaborate, I immediately researched their mission and beautiful timepieces to see if it would be something I could see myself wearing. I love their perspective on time which says,

"The value of a watch is not in being able to tell how much time has passed, but in being aware of the need to make that time count. Moments are bigger than minutes and your watch should tell more than time...We make our watches for people who don't just have somewhere to be, they have somewhere to go."

We all want to live a fulfilling, exciting, adventurous life, right?? Not simply rushing from place to place, but going and making special moments and memories along the way. The idea of making moments count and fully embracing the adventure of living life to the fullest is something I've written about frequently on here and have been doing a lot of thinking about recently, so I was instantly captivated with the brand, not to mention the stunning quality and design of their exceptional wooden watches. My everyday look tends to incorporate dainty jewelry or gold pieces, so the Frankie 35 in Zebrawood & Champagne fit beautifully with my wardrobe. In addition to garnering many compliments and inquiries, this cool watch also comes in beautiful cedar packaging, complete with sizing and custom engraving options, making it perfect for gifting this holiday season! I love the idea of gifting someone with a classic, luxury piece that is not only stylish, but also highly functional. JORD has a great selection of both men's and women's watches, making it a special and unique gift option that's definitely going to be on my list of gifts I'm giving this year! JORD and I have teamed up to give you an exclusive reader discount (in addition to free worldwide shipping) so you can give the gift of moments to someone special this season through a beautiful wooden watch. (p.s. Hurry! This code is only good until Dec. 19th! Get that holiday shopping done early!)

City Lights

It's so much fun to explore and try new things. Adventure and challenging creative limits is part of what makes life so exciting. With this particular shoot we tried something different than my typical style posts and had a great time doing it.  Rooftop sunsets are so beautiful, especially as the seasons begin to change, bringing a soft violet glow and rich evening light that sparkled across the cityscape at dusk.

Cranberry & Leopard Print

I've been enjoying all the rich hues and luxe textures that come with fall clothing, and although it is simple, this outfit had no shortage of both. The pretty crisscross detail on this silky top added just enough interest, and when paired with high waisted velvet skinnies, it transitions from day to night seamlessly. Also, cheetah and leopard prints have been everywhere this season, from fun accessories, to dresses and shoes, this trend is certainly having a moment. Leopard loafers are a fun and practical way to incorporate the trend into your work or play wardrobe.
