As Fall Falls Upon Us..

Current Music Love: Viva La Vida Meets Love Story by Jon Schmidt (I've seriously pressed replay a gazillion times on this one....)

Well, school has commenced once again, and I am actually happy to be back in the swing of things. There's something just so exciting about having new subjects to learn about and taking notes on my mini laptop again...(yes, I like to take notes..wierd, I know!) I am lucky to have a good schedule of classes in which I have three days off to do my work; today being one of those days. I was hoping to take a quick trip to the sea today, but alas, the weather was just slightly uncooperative, so I did some taebo instead.

Just a sidenote: If you need a workout that's quick, fun and effective, pick up the Turbo-Charged Taebo dvd..it's such fun and only takes 23 minutes to complete!!

My family and I attended a different church on Sunday than the one that we normally do, and the pastor was talking about Finishing Strong. At first I was like, Huh? I'm just starting things..why should I be thinking about finishing strong? I'm not even off the starting block. Then as I listened, I began to see that it was truly what I needed to hear. I'll share a few things from the message with you..

2 Corinthians 8:11 (NIV) Now finish the work, so that your eager willingness to do it may be matched by your completion of it.

Why We Fail to Finish What We Start:
Fatigue: Nehemiah 4:10a (NLT) The workers are getting tired...
"Fatigue makes cowards of all of us." --Vince Lombardi
To overcome fatigue, get help from others!

Exodus 17:11-12 (LB) And as long as Moses held up the rod in his hands, Israel was winning; but whenever he rested his arms at his sides, the soldiers of Amalek were winning. Moses' arms finally grew too tired to hold up any longer; so Aaron and Hur rolled a stone for him to sit on, and they stood on each side, holding up his hands.

Frustration: Keep going; persevere!!
James 1:12 (NIV) Blessed is the man who perseveres..

Failure: It's not how much you fail, its what you do with it. It's too soon to quit!!
God called you to finish the race, not to just start it.

Three Ways to Finish What You Start:
1. Stop making excuses (Prov 22:13, Jeremiah 6:14)
2. Start Immediately (Eccl 11:4, Prov 27:1, James 4:17)
3. Focus on the game and not the pain! (Hebrews 11:26)

Place your focus on the end and not the momentary discomfort.

Depend on God to help you!
2 Corinthians 4:16 (NLT) That is why we never give up...our spirits are being renewed every day.

I realized that there were things in my life that I was making excuses about and not wanting to finish; it was also an encouragement to start off the school year strong and keep up the pace, to not slow down halfway through because things get busy or tough. Hope you were able to find something in this as well!

I got to meet with a few friends on Friday, and also chat with a few through the lovely world of Skype (yay for technology!!) It's such fun to see where life takes all of us. Many of my friends are all over the place/world this season, as they are on study abroad trips, internships, attending new schools and such. The best part of it all is that no matter how far away, or how long we've been apart, when we talk, it's as though no time has passed. I hope it is the same with you and your good friends!

Well, I am off to finish some accounting homework..

Blessings and Perseverance to Finish Strong!!

Dear Summer, Thanks For The Memories!

Good Afternoon!

I hope you're all enjoying another lovely day today!
The last moments of summer have finally arrived, and classes are just around the corner. Summer went by so quickly it seems; however, looking back, I did manage to pack a whole lot of memories and experiences into the time given.

My room is almost finished, and I've been doing so much cleaning and reorganizing of things. It's amazing how much stuff one can accumulate in a year! I love to give things to people, and so I've got boxes of clothing, handbags and such that I'm giving to a friend after doing some closet reorganization.. whew! that was a job! Speaking of giving things...I've decided to giveaway two of my three hairpieces I featured in my 5 month anniversary giveaway, and my winners are Brittany and Paislea Elyse! Congratulations ladies! I'll be sending those your way very soon!

With summer drawing to an end, I really wanted to find a few fun things to start off the school year with, so this called for a thrifting adventure. There's something so much fun about searching through all of the junk to find treasures. I feel like God tends to do that with us. We have so much junk in our lives, but He loves us enough to go through it all and pulls out the diamond that we are underneath. His love pursues us continually and causes us to become more and more like the person He created us to be. That sort of reminds me of this verse.

"Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever." Psalm 23:6

I am truly thankful for his unfailing love that is in constant pursuit of my soul each and every moment. {I am one of those people who does a lot of thinking about things while thrifting..it's a relaxation technique I guess :) } Anyways, I hit the jackpot and ended up with a pair of vintage Prada pumps, an adorable green teapot, and the most darling vintage chair that goes perfectly with my vanity in my room! What fun :)

I hope you are all enjoying your last moments of summer as fall is quickly approaching! Soak up the last rays of summer sunlight!

Blessings,

Candice

Five Things I Love

Hello, Hello!

I came home from dance today and immediately slipped on a pair of lavender scented fuzzy socks onto my aching feet; it got me thinking about things that I consider essentials..so I decided to make a list of a few things that I absolutely love.

1. Fuzzy socks. (especially the scented kind!) These things are like heaven for your feet! Being a dancer, I truly appreciate the foot comfort factor, and they can keep your feet quite warm! Pick up a cute pair at Bath and Body Works

2. SoftLips Chapstick: This is an all-time favorite thing of mine! I buy multiple packs and put one in every handbag, backpack and dance bag that I have. It smells, feels and tastes so good, and the small, thin size is perfect for travel!
3. Sheer Blonde Crystal Clear Hairspray by John Frida : This has the perfect balance of staying power and touchable feel. It works for any hair color and type (not just blondes!).
4. Biore Ultra deep cleansing pore strips: I tend to get blackheads in the t-zone area, and these things are just fantastic and clearing that up, and quickly too! You'll start to see a difference after about 1-2 uses!

5. Earrings: Personally, I think that earrings, when worn correctly, can be the most flattering and feminine piece of jewelry. My sister is quite good at making jewelry, and luckily, I get tp benefit from that! All of her designs are done with gold, sterling silver and, if used, Swarovski crystals Perhaps, I'll do a giveaway sometime of a pair that she's made...
(Yes, she did make these!)

I can think of a ton of other things, but I'll save them for another post..I'd love to hear about some of your favorite things! Leave a note if you like!

Blessings,

Candice

Beauty in the Details

Hello there!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week so far! The show on Friday went well, and all of the residents in the nursing home were thrilled to watch the beautifully glittering little ones dance, sing and introduce themselves. It was a cute ending to an interesting week.

I've been in the process of redecorating my room to make it more functionable for both school and relaxation. I found the most beautiful French style vanity and a glittering, pink Pottery Barn chandelier to replace an old dresser next to my bed. I also created a cute reading corner for studying, and was able to use some of my previous dorm decor to complete the shabby chic look that I love!
Tanner is getting quite big now, and wanted to say hello to all of you, so I promised him that I'd post a new picture of him. He even waved hello for a shot!
I have been wanting a polaroid camera for the longest time, but was debating about purchasing one just because I wasn't sure if I'd really use one. After a conversation with a friend about them, I decided to purchase one on Ebay. I am in the process of finding the film for a good price, so if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know!
How cute is this? :) I'm looking forward to using it!!

Anyways, I trust that everyone is doing well!

"For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith."
1 John 5:4

Blessings,

Candice
