It's That Time!

Well lovely friends, it's that time! My bags are packed, sunscreen, bathing suit and sunglasses in tow...I'm so ready for vacation. Don't worry though! I've got some fabulous ladies taking over the blogging here while I'm relaxing, enjoying the tropical breezes, island music and sunshine! Can't wait to come back with some gorgeous photos, stories and a tan!
(this is my plan for the next week or so..)

See you all soon!

Out On the Town

One of my best friends, Lindsey from Blog Barbie had her 21st birthday on Monday, so a bunch of us went out to celebrate! We had dinner at a wonderful asian and thai fusion restaurant, and laughed over pineapple fried rice, edamame, presents and a delicious ice cream and fried banana dessert!
The lovely Evan from Sweet Stuff

The beautiful birthday girl!

She reminds me of Carrie Bradshaw in this photo.

I'm in love with edamame!

After dinner, we all glided on over to the delightful French macaron shop for a few fun desserts!

this is my "I may or may not have just eaten a few macarons" face.
It only comes out at special occasions, such as this.

I feel that this photo basically sums up our friendship.

Anyways, a most wonderfully fun evening! Full of laughter, good friends and good food! Another great memory for the books!

Hope you're having a fantastic week!

Blessings,

Candice

Snapshots of Life (Guest Post: Lauren from Busy Bee Lauren)

You guys, I'm so excited to have the totally gorgeous and hilarious Lauren from Busy Bee Lauren here to share a little bit of herself with you all! I hope you all are following her already...if you're not, please get over to her blog immediately and fix that! Thanks for being here Lauren!

What inspired you to blog?
1. I honestly was never inspired to blog. I was just bored. Seriously...back in 2006 I didn't even know blogging was a big deal. I knew a couple women that had one, and since I always failed at keeping a journal, I thought I would try having an online journal. I truly thought I would fail at keeping up with a blog too, but turns out it was something I loved!

What have you learned from blogging, and do you have any tips you'd like to share?
2. I have learned that you have to be true to yourself. There are so many great blogs out there, and the reason they are great is because they are telling their story. They are true to who they are, and that's why they are unique. I made the decision to be open with who I am and the struggles I go through, so that everyone who reads my blog will know I am being honest. I want people to feel like I am there friend, and when they log on, I am here to share a little part of my day with them. If I had one tip to share, it would be, "be real." Seriously...people will love you for it.

Name 3 places you'd like to visit!
3. I would love to visit New York City, Cancun and Greece. But honestly, I just love travelling in general...so anywhere new would tickle my fancy!

Got any beauty secrets? Let's hear em!
4. My beauty secret is that I never brush my hair. Seriously, I rarely do. I am bed head all the way! And to look put together, I put on some bright lipstick, and I am good to go! Embrace the tousled look!

Who has been a role model to you and why?
5. This is going to sound cliche, but my mom! I think she is so selfless and loving, and very creative. She is a wonderful woman, and all that know her love her.

What's your favorite quote?
6. "They say i'm a dreamer, but i'm not the only one..." favorite quote from "Imagine" by John Lennon :)

A Cellular View

Warning: This is post is totally random, but it's a Monday...what do you expect?
Anyways, carry on...

Here's a few snapshots of the week from the viewpoint of my cell phone's camera.
(no judging the lack of quality in the images..I have an excuse, ok?)

Vanilla Almond bubble tea is the nectar of the gods...ok not really, but it's one of my very favorite drinks EVER. I am definitely a happy camper if there's one in my hand.

sweet little (actually not so much anymore) Tanner getting some sun

Moe's Mondays with friends is a definite tradition around here.
Come hang out with me on a Monday, I'll take you! :)

Last exam before summer...almost. finished.
Faux frames make me feel smarter.

Summer makes me want to eat lots of fruit, and get in shape for the beach..
the blueberries have obviously been working out too...seriously,
I've never seen any so big before, have you?

Here's to the start of a great week!
Happy Monday, friends!

Our Own Private Garden

I went on a picnic with my good friend Evan yesterday, and we had the best time talking, enjoying the gorgeous weather, and picking out some fun things at a gourmet market. We enjoyed the lovely gardens, and had the whole place to ourselves, really. It's always so refreshing to be around good friends, and I'm lucky to have known her for quite awhile! She has a lovely blog, by the way!
Here's a few fun ones from that afternoon!

It was a totally beautiful day, and we even found an adorable baby duckling! All in all, a lovely afternoon with a wonderful friend.
I love the springtime weather...
Happy Friday!

Blessings,

Candice

The World Is Waiting

I came across this text today, and it really made me think.

If this is true, what are you holding back for? There's so much to be discovered, achieved, explored, and enjoyed. Your comfort zone is only just that, comfort; it is not adventure, new and exciting. It's simply routine...following the same processes over and over again. Why do we stay here? Perhaps it's the fear of the unknown, the uncertain future, but isn't that the essence of adventure? What would a hero be if not for a conquest to conquer? Without adversity, and that first step into the unknown, there would be no epic fights to victory; we would all just be.
But would we really live?

You know, I think there's something within that calls out the hero inside...it whispers, "go..go..GO! What do you have to lose?" Whether or not we want to admit it, we crave adventure and excitement. Even a hermit will find something to amuse himself day after day.

Perhaps you feel this way...the world is waiting just outside your window. Will you go? Yes, there will be things to overcome, and people may question your reasons; however, these are but trivial factors in the scheme of things.

Don't be content with a glass view of life; experience it for yourself!

1 Million Meals

I made over 1 million meals on Saturday...but not by myself!
This weekend I was privileged to help with the challenge of making over 1 Million meals for hungry families. There were multiple Rotary clubs and organizations that came together to partner with a group called Meals of Hope, and they set a challenge of putting together 1 million meals in a day! Pretty crazy, huh?! Well, within 4 hours, the goal was complete!! Here's how it was done!
The event was held in a high school cafeteria.
There were two parts to each station. The first people assembled the meals by pouring measurements of rice, beans, soy, vegetables & vitamins into the bags, and the second group weighed, adjusted and sealed the finished product!
I did two different jobs over the course of the shifts. First was measuring the beans, and then I switched to getting the bags ready and holding them as they were filled!
Here's a finished product!
(I've gotten to taste it when its been prepared, and it's actually quite delicious!)

These finished ones were then placed on huge pallets, and stored in semi trucks parked in the back of the building.

The project was so much fun, and people of all ages were able to participate! I wish you guys could have been there to experience it all! It was a great feeling to be able to give back to the communities around us, and I hope to do other volunteering projects like this soon.
Have you done something to help out in your community before?

Reuniting Over Tea

I don't know about you, but for me there's something so magical about sharing teatimes with friends. The cares of the world seem to slip away, and all that's heard are the sounds of girlish laughter, china teacups clinking while stories and secrets are shared. Perhaps that's why I've always felt such love for tea; it is so feminine in it's essence, and it seems to connect the elegance with the soothing balm of friendship.

I'm having tea today with two great friends of mine. Usually it would be all four of us, but my friend Jenn is in Peru for the summer. Lindsey just got back from Paris (her blog is full of French adventures!), and Evan has finished up classes for the semester, so we're all excited to catch up and swap stories over Raspberry tea and scones!
Needless to say, I'm looking forward to our teatime tradition.

Do you ever have tea with friends too?

xoxo,
