An Original

(Dress: Lilly Pulitzer, Shoes: Rampage, Belt: Thrifted, Clutch: F21, Necklace: F21, Sunglasses: Michael Kors)

Leopard print has really hit it big, especially in my closet, and when you add a dash of my favorite aqua shade, it's an automatic winner. End of story.
One of the most important things I've learned when putting outfits together is to see things as art; color interplay, texture combinations, the fit and flattery of different pieces, and how certain accessories can make or break an outfit. Every piece works together to create some sort of overall aesthetic feel, and so as cheesy as it sounds, you're wearing an original work of art, thought out and creatively expressed. How fun!

P.S. Can you believe it's almost February already?! Wow!

Aligna sent some fun questions my way, and since I'm not one to pass up a good Q&A, I thought I'd answer a few of these!

1. What makes you feel alive?
The feeling of waking up and knowing I have a purpose, and am loved by the creator of the universe. Also, being outside and enjoying the beauty of the world in which we live is so invigorating.
2. Who has been the biggest influence in your life?
I'd say that both of my parents have been really influential. Wouldn't trade them for the world.
3. If your life was a song or book what would it be called?
Capturing Creativity
4. What would be your last supper be if you had to choose?
Honestly, I haven't the slightest idea..something fresh, sweet and delish
5. Do you have a bucket list? If so whats the top two?
I do. They're not in any particular order of importance, but hot air ballooning and traveling the world are definitely on there!
6. Whats your favorite thing to do to relax?
I love to read, or be with friends and talk over coffee & tea.
7. Favorite destination to visit?
As of now I'd say that it's between Hawaii & Norway..although I've not been to France or Italy just yet..
8. Favorite season of the year?
Spring!
9. If you won a million dollars whats the first thought or thing you would do with it?
I'd probably take a trip to visit the child I sponsor in Guatemala.
10. If you knew it was your last day on earth how would you spend it?
I'd want to be in a beautiful place, surrounded with my friends and family just enjoying the time we had together.

Thanks for the questions!

Happy Weekend!

Limelight

(Top: Ralph Lauren, Skirt: Target, Shoes: Lilly Pulitzer, Belt: Coach, Earrings: c/o Frock Stock)

There's a lot to love about bright colors, in fact they seem to lift your mood, just like a sunshine-filled day  like today. The lingering coolness in the air makes it seem as though spring is right around the corner. Is it safe to say that I'm not missing the coats and sweaters one bit? Usually I'm all about the cold weather, but as of late I've been dreaming of balmy breezes, swaying palm trees and island music playing. If you soon discover me on some island relaxing in a hammock, don't say I didn't warn you..

Weekend Wanderings

This week has been a fun and busy one, and the weekend holds a lot of errands, a few papers and perhaps a movie or coffee with friends. I always look forward to the weekends, and taking a bit of time to kick back, relax and live life at a somewhat slower pace. How about you?

Just in case you missed it, I was featured here, and am talking about my favorite place and sharing some gorgeous photos over here today!

Happy Weekend!

Teatime Thursday: Code Purple

Fact: There are more than 225 million cases of Malaria reported each year worldwide.
This life-threatening disease is caused by parasites that are transmitted to people through bites of infected mosquitoes.

ING Activewear created MOSKEETO ARMOR™, a fabric that is mosquito repellent and has the potential to save millions of lives around the world.

ING and Touch the World (TTW) have teamed up with top fashion designers, and will launch this product internationally through the Code Purple Event as part of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in NYC on February 16th. This life changing technology has initiated an international campaign against Malaria, and has already begun to be distributed to people in Africa in the form of these stylish sweatshirts.

Pretty amazing, right? How can you get involved?

Wear Your Support:
If you can’t make it to the NYC event, you can show support by picking up your hoodie at www.INGactivewear.com or make a donation at www.codepurpleevent.com.
For every hoodie purchased through ING Activewear’s website, ING Activewear will contribute by donating another hoodie to be sent to Africa to better someone’s life.

Spread the Word:
Get more information about Code Purple through their Facebook page or follow them on Twitter

If you retweet my original tweet about Code Purple here, you'll be entered to win a surprise swag bag.

What a great way to improve someone else's life, and add a stylish new addition to your closet! That bright purple is perfect for color blocking, a huge spring trend this year.

Let's change the world, one bit at a time!

Walk on the Wild Side

I'm so excited to have my gorgeous & stylish friend Lindsey here to share her style secrets with you all! I know you'll love her as much as I do, and make sure to stop by and say hello on her blogs!

Hey y'all!

First of all, let me thank Candice in writing for letting me write a post ANDDDD for letting me play supermodel for a few hours, it was a blast! I chose this outfit and untangled my hair (which looked liked there was a rat nesting in there for a few days haha) 'cause I wanted to look pretty in the blog post pics! I found both the shirt and the jeans at my favorite thrift-store  in town.  If you don't thrift already, YOU SHOULD. It's simply the greatest activity ever...especially when you scout out boutique items and couture attire with your best friend like I do! I must admit I borrowed the shoes from ma mere (my mother), but it was quite necessary; they're Kenneth Cole for crying out loud.
Well that's about it for now, but take a gander at my blog(s): Messages in a Bottle (at lindsey-reinstrom.blogspot.com, a blog I wrote while I studied abroad in Paris, France) and The Blog Barbie (at lindsey-blogbarbie.blogspot.com, currently under renovation, but it should be back in full force soon!)

xoxo,

Lindsey

Weekend Wanderings

Yay it's finally the start of the weekend! Time to kick back, relax and enjoy..perhaps catch a sunset or two, get a bit of schoolwork finished, and watch the Miss America pageant. My sister and I like to curl up on the couch with a cup of tea, pick out our favorite contestants, and speculate as to who we think will win. If any of you were wondering, we were spot on last year.

Wishing you all the most wonderful, relaxing and fun weekend!
