Memories of May

Listening to: Defying Gravity by Glee Cast
Reading: What A Girl Wants by Kristin Billerbeck (a charmingly witty and fun read! I highly reccommend it!)

It's the last day of May! When I look back to the beginning of this month, and go back through all it's happenings, I cannot believe how busy it's been! I am thankful for everything I have learned and experienced this month..here's a few snapshots of some highlights.

I hope you enjoyed your month of May as well! I shall share more later..

Optimistic Thursday

Good Morning! I hope you're all having a wonderful week! I came across this piece awhile ago, but recently stumbled upon it on Lovely Undergrad and thought I'd share it with you! Remember, Optimism is contagious, so share it with all those around you!

The Optimist Creed

by Christian Larson

Promise Yourself

To be so strong that nothing

can disturb your peace of mind.

To talk health, happiness, and

prosperity to every person you meet.

To make all your friends feel that

there is something worthwhile in them.

To look at the sunny side of everything

and make your optimism come true.

To think only of the best, to work only

for the best and to expect only the best.

To be just as enthusiastic about the success

of others as you are about your own.

To forget the mistakes of the past and press

on to the greater achievements of the future.

To wear a cheerful expression at all times and

give a smile to every living creature you meet.

To give so much time to improving yourself

that you have no time to criticize others.

To be too large for worry, too

noble for anger, too strong for fear and

too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact

to the world, not in loud word, but in great deeds.

To live in the faith that the whole world is on your

side, so long as you are true to the best that is in you.

Have a wonderful, positive day!

Blessings and an Optimistic Outlook,

Candice

Looking Back Through the Lens

Good Afternoon!

I came back home from my travels with 5000+ pictures and a full suitcase, and needless to say, I have truly fallen in love with Europe. I had some amazing experiences, and I cannot put into words to explain to you how much I have enjoyed the time spent over there. I committed to take a picture a day as a project and journal my experiences, so I thought I'd share with you the one-a-day photo project with you now! Enjoy!

Day 1: My room for most of the trip

Day 2: This church is over 1000 years old!

Day 3: Lisa and Jacob

Day 4: Room in Bergen

Day 5: Walking through quaint European towns

Day 6: Train trip from fields and farms to arctic tundra type conditions
(Random Fact: They filmed scenes from Star Wars here)

Day 7: Sightseeing

Day 8: Parade for National Holiday

Day 9: The beautiful view from the Opera House is picture worthy.

Day 10: I don't want to say goodbye..
(Confession: I did not take this picture because I was trying to just soak the image in before I left..but my friend took it, so it's close enough, right?)

Well, I hope you enjoyed a snippet of what went on during my travels. This was just the start..I'll be leaving again fairly soon for another fun destination! I hope that you too are journaling your adventures this summer!
There's just something about traveling the world that really causes you to do two things:
1. Realize how big God is, and how beautifully he has created the Earth
2. Realize that there is more life out there than just yours.

If you get the chance, please travel and go on adventures, even if they are just in your own city. You'll be surprised what you discover!

It's off to unpacking now!

Blessings and Sweet Memories of World Travels,

Candice

Silhouettes of Sunday

Hello Hello!
I only have a few moments, but I thought I would update you on a few more things I've experienced along my travels...enjoy!

Hiking in the forests...

Beautiful colors painted across the northern skies..

Charming harbour areas filled with cute shops and cafes..

Train rides through the snow covered mountains..

I even learned how to shoot with a bow and arrow!

This trip is absolutely incredible!! I am filling my journal daily with fun experiences, bus passes, train tickets, pressed flowers and other keepsakes to remember the great times later on! I cannot wait to share some of the wonderful memories with you when I have more time..Well, It's late where I am now so I'll share more at another time!

Hope you're having a beautiful Sunday!

Blessings and Memorable Times,

Candice

Wednesday Abroad

I am currently writing from a lovely place in my travels..I wish you were here with me to see the beautiful sights and experience the things I'm getting to experience!

A few things I have recently fallen in love with:

1. This view

2.Brown goat cheese

3. This lovely place that you must hike down the mountain get to. Great journaling spot, I'd say!

There's so much more, but the sun is just setting over the mountains and the water is glowing golden, (Such a beautiful display of God's creation) so I shall bid you adieu for the night.

A closing remark from St. Augustine:
“The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.”

I have been taking a picture a day like I promised, as well as journaling my experiences, so perhaps one of these posts from my return in a bit will be the 'one a day' project! :)

Blessings and Lovely experiences,

Candice

The Beginning, The End and A Whole Lot of Memories..

What am I..
Currently Listening to? : Tonight by TobyMac
Currently Reading? : In A Pit With A Lion on A Snowy Day by Mark Batterson

Wow can you believe how fast the time has gone? It's finally sweet summertime and that means a whole lot of fun ahead! Exams went well, and I am officially finished with school for the year! Whoo! I got all of my stuff out of my room, and now I'm in the process of unpacking, reorganizing and repacking for some travel that is coming up! One thing that I was thinking about as I loaded plastic bins full of cards, notebooks, clothing and photos is how much I learned in just one year. The girl who walked in at the beginning of
August...

is not the same girl who walked out in May....

I've come out smarter (I can now classify fruits, write proper business memos and tell you all about the history of Christian theology), wiser (spiritually) and full of new dreams, goals and accomplishments. I feel as if I have grown up a lot and also fallen deeper in love with my Heavenly Father. I cannot even begin to tell you of all the things he has done and revealed to me in this past year..I would not have enough space to name each and every moment that he came and made his presence known to me.

As I wrapped up the cables, cords and clothes for the summer, I sifted through the sweet memories, the hard and trying situations that caused me to grow stronger, and the times I laughed so hard with my friends that my stomach hurt afterwards.

Here's a few things that I learned this year:
I hope you also have learned much from this past year!

A few things of interest..Mother's Day is tomorrow! Make sure you let your mom know how thankful you are to have her in your life! My mom has done so much for me, and is always a support and encouragement to me! I am so blessed to have her for my mom! Love you, mom! :)
Since it's summer again, I've gotten back into the habit of making a lot of fresh fruit smoothies..yum! It is so yummy and refreshing on a hot day! I got a book full of good recipes, so I'll just share a quick one that I recently enjoyed!

Perky Pineapple
Needed: handful of crushed ice
2 bananas
1 Cup Pineapple and its juice
1/2 cup plain yogurt

Put all ingredients into a blender or food processor and process until smooth!

Well, I hope that you're enjoying your summer vacation (if you're out of school already), and make sure you're journaling all of the fun things that happen! Well, I'm off to finish my packing...I cannot wait to tell you of all my adventures that arise on my travels!

Blessings and Sweet summertime happenings,

Candice

Perserverance Brings Reward

Good Evening!

My apologies for going so long without blogging..believe me, I missed you too! This week is exam week and I'm in the process of packing up, studying and getting ready for the summer!! Only four exams left until summer :) I am sooo excited! I'm taking a quick break from the books to say hello again!

Sidenote: I've recently been receiving lots of gifts from friends...(I love giving and getting gifts!!) Two friends sent me boxes full of goodies and another good friend gave me an end of the year gift! I am truly blessed with such awesome, caring friends who spoil me! haha

Today I got a whole bunch of things accomplished and even got to do a vintage themed photoshoot with two lovely girls! We had a blast and enjoyed the sunshine of the beautiful day! I got my schedule set for next semester and started making some summer goals.

I have been reading in Hebrews lately and one of the things that has really stood out to me lately is the theme of perserverance. How applicable in this week of exams before summer vacation! I'll just share a quick passage with you before I continue my studying.

Hebrews 10:23-24
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.

My encouragement to you and also to myself is to keep holding on to what God has promised for you. Don't give up, even if the road gets rough and rocky. Encourage eachother continuously so we can all prosper and grow into the beautiful souls that our Father has called us to be!
Well, it's back to the books...(energy drinks, anyone?)

Blessings and Perseverance,

Candice
