Wishing On Autumn Leaves

It really seems as though this season is one of the busiest yet. I feel as though I say this all the time, but wow it was such a busy week, and next week brings with it lots of exams and appointments..whew! I cannot wait for a break! It went back to summer-like weather here..I wish it was getting somewhat cooler because I am really wanting to break out the cute coats, sweaters and boots!! Unfortunately, I'll probably be waiting for another month before the cool change comes about.

I really am not having a hair color mid-life crisis, I promise..but
I decided to go back to being blonde after enjoying the brunette look for a bit. I liked the color and was happy that I could pull it off, but I just didn't feel like myself. I had wondered for years what I would look like as a brunette, so it was a good experiment; I am much happier blonde, just saying. Haha

I recently discovered how crazy some people can be when it comes to shopping and good deals. I've been shopping on Black Friday and whatnot, but that was nothing compared to the '50% off everything all day' sale at the Goodwill that I like to visit. Holy moly. I've never seen anything quite like it. Now you have to understand that this is not your average Goodwill, as it receives lots of fabulous finds bearing top designer names (think Escada, Juicy, Chanel,..etc.), but the people were so intense that day. I waited for a good 7 minutes in line for a dressing room, and did end up with some good stuff..yay! It was perfect to get some early Christmas shopping done; yes, I'm way early, I know. Next time I'm not sure I'll come in that day, too many scary shoppers, but lots of great deals..hmm such a toss up!

I recently received this lovely read from a good friend of mine, and I couldn't put it down until I was done! It was so good! The way that author, Scotty Gibbons, talks about how his youth group was able to  give, as well as his ideas of giving for wherever you're at is so good! Highly suggest picking this one up on your next trip to the bookstore.
My sister is in her school play this weekend, and so I've been doing her hair and makeup based on the style of Amanda Bynes' character from Hairspray. The play is a comedy set in the 50's. She looks so cute with the curls, and in her full costume she's the perfect vintage girl!
"But friendship is the breathing rose, with sweets in every fold. "
Oliver Wendell Holmes

I just had to throw this one in there..we had an open rehearsal at my studio, so people could stop in and watch our Nutcracker rehearsals, and we each received a gorgeous rose at the end! It was so sweet!! I just love a deep red like in this one; it looks so pretty on my dresser!
(Peach roses are my all-time favorite though!)

Hope you're all enjoying your weekend!

Blessings,

Candice

I Heart You!

Well, first of all..

I have hit 50 followers! Yahoo! Thanks for the love, everyone! Now sending some your way...

You guys truly make me smile :) I love reading your comments and blogs so much; it's such fun to share with you all, and get a sneak peek into the life and times of fabulous, fun-loving and creative you! I wish I could go on a blogger meet-up adventure and travel the world to visit you in your hometowns, but since I don't have unlimited access to frequent flier miles and a private jet, I'll just have to settle for saying a BIG THANK YOU through the screen.

I have an exam tomorrow, so I won't make this a long post, but here's some fall favorites of mine:
1. Sequin Jacket

2. Classic Trench

3. Flat Riding Boots

4. Longchamp Tote

5. Any and Everything from ModCloth, please and thank you.

Time to hit the books again as I want to do well and get some rest (possible?).
Hope you're having a fantastic week so far!

Blessings and Happiness,

Candice

Fall Favorites and Such

Wow, it's been such a busy week this week! I didn't have time to do a regular post until now!
Yesterday was a great day as I was able to see some friends that I hadn't seen in awhile. It was so good to catch up on life over dinner. I also stopped at a tea shop that I frequently visited last year and got my favorite iced Almond Vanilla bubble tea!
Seriously, that stuff is amazing; if you haven't tried it, you're missing out!

It's finally cooler outside! I woke up to fresh, cool air and what a refreshing change it is from the warm weather that's lingered for awhile. The change in temperature makes me want to bake yummy things all day long; unfortunately, I don't have the time, but I'll share another recipe with you in the upcoming week or so that is one of my favorites! I've found so many delicious recipes in all of your blogs lately! My goodness..I would love to take a whole day and just make one of each!

As far as other recipes, one of the things that I've really enjoyed lately is a sweet potato. It had been years since I'd eaten them, and now I'm hooked again. It's the perfect fall treat and just happens to be really really good for you!! The sweet potato is considered a "superfood"and is ranked the #1 for nutrition of vegetables..(yeah, I started eating them after reading that too..) For more info check out this article.
They are so easy to prepare (yay!!), and are naturally sweet! I suggest just sticking it in the microwave for about 6 min and then slice open to let it cool and sprinkle cinnamon all over. It is so yummy! Some people like to dress them up with more sugar, but I think that it has enough natural sweetness of its own, and the cinnamon adds that great "fall spice" taste.
This is easy enough for a college student as a study snack quick meal for someone on the go.

Kind of on the same topic as food..I really love trying different types of water; flavored, vitamin-enhanced..etc. Anytime I go into a gourmet market or organic grocery store, I make a beeline for the waters to try out a new one. Here's two of my all-time favorites.
The first is called VOSS water from Norway, and since I have a special place in my heart for Norway, it tastes doubly good as the memories from visiting beautiful places come flooding back when I drink it. (oh and it has a really clean, fresh taste)
The second one is MetroMint water; my favorite flavor being the Chocolate Mint (there's about 4 different ones to choose from, I believe) because it actually tastes like chocolate with mint..think a York Peppermint Patty candy. It's seriously so good and can satisfy a craving for sweets without the calories or sugar! (Perfect for anyone on a no sweets diet haha) I bring them to class with me all the time, and always feel as though I'm having this great treat, but it's just water! Look for them the next time you're out..I think you'll love both of them :)

This upcoming week brings about more rehearsals and such for the Nutcracker which means I'm going through pointe shoes very quickly..time for some sewing! My sister is quite good at doing this, so I have enlisted her to help me since she's sewing pairs of her own as well..it's such fun!
Sew many shoes!!
(sorry, bad joke..couldn't resist!)

Music Moment: If you love solo piano music, which I certainly do, you should check out Sunny Choi on YouTube. She is an international piano artist, and does beautiful covers and arrangements of the popular songs of the moment. Best thing about it is she has free mp3 download links on her Facebook fanpage that pop right into your itunes..yes, please!!

Anyways, I hope you are all enjoying your weekend! I love keeping up with you all; you're so creative, and it's really inspiring!

Give to others, and God will give to you. Indeed, you will receive a full measure, a generoushelping, poured into your hands - all that you can hold. The measure you use for others is the one that God will use for you."
