Dressing The Part

It recently dipped down into some cooler temperatures over the weekend, and that got me thinking about all the sweaters, scarves, jackets, and boots I'd like to wear. Usually it's still quite warm this time of year, so hopefully the fall weather sticks around for a little while! This season it's all about beautiful fabrics, luxe detailing, animal prints, jewel tones, neutrals and shades of black and gray. While it's definitely still not cold enough for a coat, here's a few autumn pieces that I think would be perfect for this time of year.

Color Crush: Emerald Spruce

Jewel tones are the perfect way to embrace fall style without diving headfirst into sweaters and coats. Each season has its own color palette, and this season, emerald spruce is definitely a current favorite from autumn's hues. The delicate leaf motif hidden among the lace is such a pretty detail, and this dress would be perfect for evening events or the start of fall wedding season. Pieces like this exude classic elegance, with a simple, flattering silhouette and feminine touches like bows on the shoulders. What colors are you drawn to this season?

Awaiting Autumn

This may be a little bit early, especially for this area, but I'm starting to entertain the idea of fall and cooler weather. I know, I know, it's not even September, but it's not too far off! It's certainly too warm for sweaters and jackets at this point, but I've been starting to pull a couple autumn-inspired accessories to incorporate into my wardrobe. Floppy hats always remind me of fall and it's simple to add to any look without adding extra warmth (important for this time of year!). Also, animal print always seems to make a cameo appearance during the fall/winter season, and I love to add a pop of it here and there for a dash of whimsy. Is anyone else ready for some cooler temperatures?

Stripes & High Waisted Denim

Have you ever had one of those days where you cannot figure out what to wear? Whenever I'm in that situation, I have a couple of staple pieces that I always reach for. Denim and a striped shirt is one of my go-to looks, and it's always stylish, no matter the season. I'll throw on a breton shirt with skinnies in spring, a breezy button down with cutoffs in summer, and I love a good pair of flairs with a silky striped blouse for winter. The vintage feel of high-waisted denim is back for fall, and I decided to pair this style with a simple, sleeveless top (striped, of course!) and neutral accessories. To be honest, I wasn't initially sure what to think of the high-rise/straight-leg combination, but now I'm kind of loving it, especially when worn with a wedge or heel to help further lengthen the look. The high waist is so comfortable, hugs your figure in all the right places, and the slim, straight leg creates an elongated silhouette. It's safe to say this pair will definitely be getting some wear all throughout fall!

Florals For Fall

Happy Labor Day! Long weekends are the best, right? This holiday marks the official transition into the autumn season, and while many of my friends up north are starting to don sweaters, I like to add a few fall-inspired pieces into my wardrobe that are still wearable in the warm weather. This custom dress from Eshakti would be perfect for a fall wedding, dressed down with ankle booties, and later styled with over the knee boots as it gets cooler. I love the movement of georgette fabric and how the black satin button detail at the neckline turned out. This blush daisy print is so feminine and happens to be totally on trend for the season. If you've ever thought about creating a custom piece, I highly recommend working with the team at Eshakti to design something beautiful for the new season or a special event.

Fall In Full Bloom

I've professed my love for fall florals, but this top was a bit of a departure from my normal picks. I was drawn to the interesting neckline and adorable button detail along the neck and sleeves. The choker trend has been everywhere, and while I cannot seem to bring myself to purchase one, this top seems to give the same look! (I also love this version!) With the sweet florals, edgy detail, and classic accessories like suede pumps and a leather handbag, this outfit has swiftly made it's way to one of my favorites to reach for this season!

Lace Dress & Ankle Boots

(Dress, Boots (also love this color), Hat, Bag, similar Necklace)

Happy October! It's been so warm here, so typical fall clothing is kinda out of the question at the moment. One of the ways I enjoy dressing for this season, keeping the humidity in mind, is to pair fall-inspired dresses with ankle boots. This pretty, drop-waisted lace dress is my favorite, as of late, and I styled it with a few fun pieces to make it reflect the trends of the season. Cutout ankle boots and western-inspired handbags are everywhere right now, and nothing says 'fall' more than a floppy felt hat. While I'm usually all about color, this soft neutral color palette is perfect for enjoying the warm, golden-hued days of early fall.

Fall Florals

(Romper -similar, Bag, Necklace, Shoes-similar, Watch, Earrings-similar)

Fall is officially here, friends! It's a little hard to dive right into the sweaters and scarves when it's still close to 90 degrees around here, so I'm enjoying the darker floral prints, jewel tones, and ankle boots until we finally get some cooler weather. I wore this feminine look to a friend's bridal shower the other day, and loved how comfortable this romper turned out to be! To avoid making this look too dark for our current summer temps, I paired it with some lighter, more neutral accessories; however, this piece could easily transition into the fall season by swapping out the bag for something darker and adding tights. Restyling can be so much fun!  What are your favorite pieces this fall?

Easy Fall Outfit

As fall approaches, it's hard to say goodbye to the beautiful colors and prints of summer, especially when it's still so warm around here. This gorgeous silky dress is the perfect way to give a nod to the darker hues of autumn while still enjoying the playful cold-shoulder detail and leafy print. You could even style it with some tights and cute boots when the weather cools down. Also, when I learned that this was named the 'Candice' dress, I knew it was a must-have...I mean really, it's meant to be, right? Fun, flattering, and fabulous, this beauty needs to be a part of your fall transition wardrobe. You'll love her as much as I do! ;)

Attitude of Gratitude

Thanksgiving week is here once again, and now more than other days we are mindful of the many things we've been blessed with. While we may think about the food, football games, parades, and even starting our holiday shopping, my hope, for both you and I, is that we continue to live with an attitude of gratitude. It's not just a one day kind of thing...it is a lifestyle that is less about self and more about others. As you share stories and food with family and friends this thanksgiving, challenge yourself to practice gratitude daily. Wake up and thank God for another day to live and to make a difference! Sit down for 5 minutes and make a quick list of things you're grateful for, look for ways to bless other people with unexpected kindness, and give of your time, talent, or resources in a new way this season! Not only will this bless someone else's life, but you'll find that it blesses you, and expands your capacity to give even more! Gratitude is essential to a fulfilling life. Start today!

Wishing you and yours the most wonderful Thanksgiving celebration!

"Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good!
    His faithful love endures forever."
