How to Get Through Life (Without Stressing Out)

Good Morning!

Today is St. Patrick's Day! I put on green and didn't even remember that it was today until I got to class. I guess my mind subconsciously reminded me. I don't have a whole lot of time to chat right now, but I thought I would leave you with something to take with you through your day.
As I mentioned earlier, I am reading in 1 Peter; however, I was guided today to something in Matthew that really spoke to me. There is a lot of stress that can come about by life, and sometimes I forget to relax and let God take care of it all. Apparently, I am not the only one that tends to forget this. Check out Matthew 6: 25-34 Jesus was speaking to the crowds and reassuring them that God is the one in control. Let's listen in on the conversation!

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first the kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

Wow!! I know that was a lot in one passage, but let's just look at the main idea for a few moments. God has provided us with so much, and we still tend to worry about these things he mentioned. Remember today that if God put so much beautiful detail into the small things such as the flowers, then how much more will he be there to help you with your daily needs, for he knows us better than we know ourselves. Even if we get an answer from him that we feel is not what we wanted, remember that he has seen the big picture and knows what is best. Don't worry! God is in control.

Knowing this truth provides me with the confidence and reassurance that I can be myself because God is in charge. Think of it this way, for every thing you are stressed or worried about, put on an extra piece of clothing (hat, scarf, sweater, socks..etc.) How much can you put on until you feel completly weighed down and ridiculous? Now, take off all the extra stuff. How do you feel? This is really what we do to ourselves when we worry; it is extra baggage we carry around. You will feel much better when you give it to God and let him handle it!!  Look for an opportunity today to relax about something that is worrying you, and picture yourself handing it over to God. I think you'll find that your day will be much better! Well, I'm going to finish my tea now before it gets cold. Have a blessed (and worry-free) day! Oh and Happy St. Patrick's Day :)

there is so much truth in that passage! I love the way you use metaphors to give me a visual image of what a worried life looks like. Keep dancing for Abba!
