Consistency

I've been thinking a lot about habits lately...what and why we do things over and over. I think habits are better described as consistency. You see, consistency always produces results. When you exercise everyday, you're going to find yourself in better shape because of it, and likewise, if you eat junk food everyday sitting on the couch watching tv, unmoving, you're going to gain weight. This idea carries over into many aspects of life, whether that is school, work or personal situations. We can get discouraged easily because we think that change is a monumental process; however, sometimes it's not a big thing that causes change, but rather the accumulation of many little things over a period of time.
Have you ever stopped to think about the habits you created in your own life? Maybe you are consistent with your gym time, seeing friends or reading..whatever it is, make sure that your consistency is resulting in habits that will benefit you. I took some time earlier in the week to re-evaluate the things that I do on a daily basis..the little actions I do without second thought, as well as those that I deliberately choose to do just to make sure that I am getting the most out of each day. I challenge you to do the same. Consistency creates habits, and habits create results...use it to make your life worthwhile!

This is something I should definitely think about I say sitting on the couch eating crisps.

Maybe I need to make a few changes :)

I love what you said here: "Sometimes it's not a big thing that causes change, but rather the accumulation of many little things over a period of time."

I wholeheartedly agree. I also think perseverance goes hand-in-hand with this idea. There is power in the positive life changes that come from the conscious decision to continue taking the same step in the right direction until it becomes natural. I think that says more about someone's character, the willingness to keep doing something that might be difficult but in the end is worthwhile, than that very thing coming naturally does. Working for something makes the reward that much better, in my opinion.
