It recently dipped down into some cooler temperatures over the weekend, and that got me thinking about all the sweaters, scarves, jackets, and boots I'd like to wear. Usually it's still quite warm this time of year, so hopefully the fall weather sticks around for a little while! This season it's all about beautiful fabrics, luxe detailing, animal prints, jewel tones, neutrals and shades of black and gray. While it's definitely still not cold enough for a coat, here's a few autumn pieces that I think would be perfect for this time of year.

Jewel tones are the perfect way to embrace fall style without diving headfirst into sweaters and coats. Each season has its own color palette, and this season, emerald spruce is definitely a current favorite from autumn's hues. The delicate leaf motif hidden among the lace is such a pretty detail, and this dress would be perfect for evening events or the start of fall wedding season. Pieces like this exude classic elegance, with a simple, flattering silhouette and feminine touches like bows on the shoulders. What colors are you drawn to this season?

This may be a little bit early, especially for this area, but I'm starting to entertain the idea of fall and cooler weather. I know, I know, it's not even September, but it's not too far off! It's certainly too warm for sweaters and jackets at this point, but I've been starting to pull a couple autumn-inspired accessories to incorporate into my wardrobe. Floppy hats always remind me of fall and it's simple to add to any look without adding extra warmth (important for this time of year!). Also, animal print always seems to make a cameo appearance during the fall/winter season, and I love to add a pop of it here and there for a dash of whimsy. Is anyone else ready for some cooler temperatures?

I've been enjoying all the rich hues and luxe textures that come with fall clothing, and although it is simple, this outfit had no shortage of both. The pretty crisscross detail on this silky top added just enough interest, and when paired with high waisted velvet skinnies, it transitions from day to night seamlessly. Also, cheetah and leopard prints have been everywhere this season, from fun accessories, to dresses and shoes, this trend is certainly having a moment. Leopard loafers are a fun and practical way to incorporate the trend into your work or play wardrobe.

We finally got some cooler weather for a few days last week, and it was such a refreshing change! I've been looking forward to being able to pull out my sweaters and other fun fall pieces this season, like these black ankle booties and camel skirt. Lately I've been drawn to softer, neutral shades like cream, camel, grey, white, soft pink and even a powder blue. This is definitely a departure from my usual colorful picks; however, it seems fitting for the season that brings cozy, classic style and warmer, richer colors and tones.
Speaking of cozy, a weekend of relaxation, baking, writing, and sipping on hot tea while listening to the soft pitter patter of the rain on the windows was exactly what I needed after a busy last couple of weeks. It's so important to recharge and make time for reflection. With all the things going on in our daily lives, time spent in thought and reflection can easily be forgotten; however, I think it is absolutely important to make time for our minds to simply think, create, and dream. We experience a massive influx of information on a daily basis, and if we're not careful, it can easily lead to extra stress, creative burnout, or feeling overwhelmed. Give your mind a bit of time to pause and reflect, dream, or creatively wander a little. It's amazing to see how refreshed you feel after a momentary mental breather; it's like a breath of fresh (and cool) air!

Happy October! Fall is officially in full swing. It's time for all the cozy cardigans, pumpkin everything in the stores, golden evening light, and the hint of coolness in the morning and evening. As I like to do at the beginning of every month, it's time for a brief check-in and a little inspiration.
To begin each check-in, I always take an inventory of:
1. What my goals are for the month
2. The amount of progress I have made toward the goals I've set and are still working toward
3. Any habits or environment adjustments that need to be made in order to reach my goals
Going through this process each month has really helped me to stay focused on the things that matter most. I've learned that inspiration and motivation can ebb and flow, and what keeps us going is not necessarily a feeling but a dedication to the process. Sometimes you might not feel like doing what needs to be done, or your creativity might wane, but when you stick to the process of doing those small daily habits, or continue to commit to putting in the time/effort towards the goal, you'll find that sooner or later the feeling will follow. With that in mind, I like to also think about a few quotes or ideas that help me stay committed to the process. Here's what's inspiring me lately.

Have you ever had one of those days where you cannot figure out what to wear? Whenever I'm in that situation, I have a couple of staple pieces that I always reach for. Denim and a striped shirt is one of my go-to looks, and it's always stylish, no matter the season. I'll throw on a breton shirt with skinnies in spring, a breezy button down with cutoffs in summer, and I love a good pair of flairs with a silky striped blouse for winter. The vintage feel of high-waisted denim is back for fall, and I decided to pair this style with a simple, sleeveless top (striped, of course!) and neutral accessories. To be honest, I wasn't initially sure what to think of the high-rise/straight-leg combination, but now I'm kind of loving it, especially when worn with a wedge or heel to help further lengthen the look. The high waist is so comfortable, hugs your figure in all the right places, and the slim, straight leg creates an elongated silhouette. It's safe to say this pair will definitely be getting some wear all throughout fall!
