1 Million Meals

I made over 1 million meals on Saturday...but not by myself!
This weekend I was privileged to help with the challenge of making over 1 Million meals for hungry families. There were multiple Rotary clubs and organizations that came together to partner with a group called Meals of Hope, and they set a challenge of putting together 1 million meals in a day! Pretty crazy, huh?! Well, within 4 hours, the goal was complete!! Here's how it was done!
The event was held in a high school cafeteria.
There were two parts to each station. The first people assembled the meals by pouring measurements of rice, beans, soy, vegetables & vitamins into the bags, and the second group weighed, adjusted and sealed the finished product!
I did two different jobs over the course of the shifts. First was measuring the beans, and then I switched to getting the bags ready and holding them as they were filled!
Here's a finished product!
(I've gotten to taste it when its been prepared, and it's actually quite delicious!)

These finished ones were then placed on huge pallets, and stored in semi trucks parked in the back of the building.

The project was so much fun, and people of all ages were able to participate! I wish you guys could have been there to experience it all! It was a great feeling to be able to give back to the communities around us, and I hope to do other volunteering projects like this soon.
Have you done something to help out in your community before?
